Do I need to
upgrade my Aerial to receive Digital...?
TV
Transmitters in the UK are allocated Channels (Frequencies). These are
always allocated in Groups A 21-37 /B 37-52 C/D 48-68. Where possible
the Digital Channels have been allocated in these Groups & your
existing Aerial will work.
In some cases however for example Rowridge (I.O.W) this has not been
possible & the analogue Channels
group allocation does not cover the ITV suit of Digital Channels
or solent tv's analogue frequency which is rf channel ch 54,
Therefore to receive all transmissions on Digital Channels a Wideband
or Group W(21-68) Aerial is generally recommended, especially if you
wish to have any chance of receiving solent tv via your aerial.
Aerials differ in Gain & Front to Back Ratio it is always better to
use a grouped Aerial wherever possible but in the cases such as
Rowridge, a good quality High Gain Aerial is recommended. We sell all
makes of Grouped &
Wide band Aerials but with our knowledge and experience in the TV Trade
we
tend to lean towards the televes, blake uk and Antiference range of
products as
we
have used them for many years are happy with their Build and Reception
capabilities.
You may also find that your existing Aerial is not able to receive
Freeview, this may be because the transmitter
is not yet sending Digital signals or your Aerial may just need some
attention.
